Chris Lara is a 28 year veteran of the service industry in Seattle, spending the last nine as a Sommelier/Wine Director. In these nine years he has earned a Sommelier diploma from the International Sommelier Guild, is an Advance Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers and an active member of the Guild of Sommeliers.
Chris has worked in many top restaurants in Seattle, all earning “best of” marks from Seattle area publications. While at Crush he built an award winning wine list with accolades from Wine Spectator and Best of Western Washington. He then took over the famed and small list at Matt’s in the Market. He was recognized for his efforts with a feature article in Wine Spectator with accolades from them and Washington Wine Commission.
Chris joined John Howie Restaurant group as a server with John Howie Steak, he worked his way to Captain and is now proud to be the Wine Director/Sommelier. Chris is looking forward taking the extremely difficult Master Sommelier exam in the next year.
